About

Dr. Erika Bookman is a psychologist with extensive experience providing comprehensive counseling, psychotherapy, and assessment to children, adolescents, and young adults. Utilizing an attachment-centered and relational framework, she provides culturally affirming, trauma-informed care to individuals navigating moments of significant vulnerability. Dr. Bookman specializes in supporting clients through grief, relational trauma, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions, with a particular interest in guiding children of divorce and individuals navigating biracial identity development.

Dr. Bookman’s clinical foundation began with dedicated work supporting systems-involved youth within community mental health and hospital settings. She completed a predoctoral internship at the Howard University Counseling Service, providing psychotherapy to college and graduate students, alongside a specialized rotation with the DC Superior Court, where she conducted court-ordered evaluations for adolescents within the juvenile carceral system. She further sophisticated her clinical focus through a postdoctoral fellowship at UCSF’s Student Health & Counseling Services, dedicating her practice to the unique developmental and academic pressures facing graduate and professional students.

In her current practice, Dr. Bookman integrates this breadth of systemic, forensic, and academic experience to support youth and young adults in navigating complex trauma, identity development, and relational health by prioritizing partnership, emotional safety, and connection.
