About
Dr. McKayla Roberts is a psychological associate, working towards her psychologist license. She is also a proud boy mom! Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Oral Roberts University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Montclair University, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Wright Institute. McKayla’s clinical experience includes working across the lifespan, beginning with children as young as 10 through adolescents, young adults, and adults, with a particular emphasis on serving individuals, couples, and families within marginalized communities. Her therapeutic work has addressed a wide range of concerns, including depression, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, postpartum depression, grief, life transitions, and chronic medical conditions such as idiopathic intracranial hypertension, type 1 diabetes, fibromyalgia, and lupus. She has also supported clients managing anxiety related to family dynamics, cultural trauma, academic stress, social communication challenges, specific eating disorders, and performance anxiety in athletic settings.
McKayla utilizes a trauma-informed approach grounded in narrative therapy and draws on culturally affirming interventions and art therapy to align care with the lived experiences and identities of her clients.
She is passionate about building therapeutic spaces that carry the same sense of belonging and cultural rhythm as hair salons and barbershops, where healing often begins with conversation and connection.
