Concerns We Can Address in Therapy
People seek therapy for many different reasons. You do not need to have everything figured out before contacting us.
Individual psychotherapy may support people navigating:
Anxiety and persistent worry
Depression and changes in mood
Trauma and difficult past experiences
Grief and loss
Stress and emotional exhaustion
Identity development
Relationship concerns
Major life transitions
Emotional regulation
Self-esteem concerns
Attention and executive functioning challenges
Peer, family, school, or social stress
Burnout and perfectionism
Academic or performance-related stress
The emotional effects of chronic medical conditions
For some people, therapy begins after a psychological assessment provides greater clarity about attention, learning, emotional, behavioral, or neurodevelopmental concerns.
For others, psychotherapy is the first step toward understanding what they are feeling and determining what kind of support may be helpful.

Therapy That Is Personalized to You
Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. Your clinician will work with you to understand your concerns, identify meaningful goals, and select an approach that fits your needs.
Depending on the clinician and the reason you are seeking care, treatment may draw from approaches such as:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Play Therapy
Narrative Therapy
Attachment-centered therapy
Mindfulness-based approaches
Trauma-informed care
Creative and culturally affirming interventions
AgapeHealth follows a principle of “fidelity with flexibility.” Treatment is informed by established practices while still being adapted to the individual receiving care.
Trauma-Informed and Culturally Responsive Care
Your culture, identity, relationships, history, and environment can all influence how you experience mental health concerns.
Our clinicians aim to create a respectful and affirming environment where those parts of your experience can be discussed openly. Therapy may explore not only symptoms, but also the family, cultural, relational, academic, professional, and social experiences affecting your wellbeing.
Several AgapeHealth clinicians have specialized experience providing trauma-informed care.
Meet Our Psychological Assessment Providers
AgapeHealth’s psychotherapy team includes clinicians who work with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Each provider brings different areas of focus and treatment experience, allowing care to be matched more closely to the client’s needs.
What Happens During a Therapy Session?
Individual therapy appointments are generally scheduled for 50 minutes.
During your initial appointments, your clinician will learn more about what brought you to therapy, the challenges you are experiencing, and what you hope will change.
Together, you can begin developing goals and determining which therapeutic strategies may be helpful.
Therapy may involve:
Exploring difficult experiences or emotions
Identifying recurring thought or behavioral patterns
Developing coping strategies
Strengthening emotional regulation
Practicing communication skills
Addressing avoidance or fear
Building greater self-understanding
Learning new ways to respond to stressful situations
Identifying practical changes that support daily functioning
Your clinician will discuss recommendations with you and invite you to participate actively in decisions about your care.
